The Journey Begins!!!!

It's hard to believe that after countless hours of planning, researching, fundraising and finally acquiring my visa...it only took three attempts... I'm finally heading to India!! This will be a unique experience for me and very different from previous backpacking trips I've done in the past. 

Not wanting to venture too far from my love of backpacking I've planned to start my trip by traveling on my own from New Delhi to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal.  Then I'll be returning to New Delhi where I hope to meet with some students who are considering moving to Nova Scotia to study at Saint Mary's University (my alma mater) and finally I'll fly 2000km southeast to the city of Chennai where I will join my team for a 14-day Habitat for Humanity Global Village build in the coastal town of Puducherry (Pondicherry).

To say I'm excited and a little apprehensive...in particular about working outside in extreme heat... is an understatement, but overall I can not wait to meet the people of India, experience first hand their culture and food, and most importantly give back to the community.
